This is Fred and Colleen. Fred's original owner became homeless and couldn't care for Fred anymore. When Fred was picked up by CCCARL, he was tied to a tree and VERY AFRAID. He tried to eat the CCCARL volunteer that was coming to help him. Finally, the volunteer was able to get him into her car and she brought him home to be fostered. In that home he was still afraid and tried to nip the volunteer a few times. He wasn't so sure of all the other animals in the home either. Within months, Fred was a normal dog and adopted by Colleen, his new mom. Fred is now living in a home with cats and Colleen is going to foster dogs for CCCARL as well. Fred has done a complete 180 from when he was picked up to now. He is even Colleen's campaign partner for Clerk and Recorder of Gilpin County. All it takes is a little love to turn an animal's life around. If law enforcement had come to pick up Fred, he may have been euthanized that night because of his attitude. Thank goodness for people like Colleen, who are willing to give dogs a second chance.
